Get Your Business Book Started In Just 2 Days

Book Planning And Writing Mini-Retreat

Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 July, Edinburgh, Scotland

Have you been saying for years that you want to write a book?

Hi, I'm Karen Williams, the Book Mentor, and guess what... I hear this all the time! But what's different about you is that you've decided to do something about it. However, it's not easy, and with the best intentions in the world, there are numerous reasons why business owners don't write their book. Perhaps some of these reasons resonate with you:

  • You haven't had time to get around to it yet; life and work get in the way
  • You don't know where to start - or you've started and you're not sure how to finish.
  • You find your stuff easy and you don't believe that people will find it useful - surely it's common sense?
  • You haven't got a clue how to transfer your ideas onto paper, let alone how to turn them into a published book.
  • You're struggling with the structure, and how much of your wisdom you should include, how much you should ditch, and whether you should be writing more than one book.
  • You haven't yet nailed your voice and style of writing, and feel bamboozled by all of the advice out there.
  • You're worried that it will cost you money and your book will just become an expensive business card.

The good news is that if any of these things are stopping you from planning, writing or publishing your book, then we can help. My job is to help you to get from the starting blocks to creating a published book that will be the hook to grow your business.

Sheryl Andrews (The Strength and Solution Detective) and I have put together a number of UK events, including this one, which will take place in Portsmouth and Edinburgh in 2017.

If you are in the “I want to get started phase” then this 2 day mini-retreat is for you. If you have started and need help finishing, need time to write, or support with the marketing, then please check out our other events at the end of this page*.

For this 2 day Planning and Writing mini-retreat, I will be sharing all the tricks of the trade to write a book that builds your credibility and gets you noticed. Sheryl will support you with her unique group facilitation process to create time and space for you to develop your own unique planning and writing style. This will leave you motivated and inspired to manage your time and set boundaries to make your book happen

Why it's time to write your book

Just in case you're not yet 100% sure why you need to write a book or why you need to do it now, we'd love to share our experiences with you. Published business authors are more successful and make more money because:

  • They value their knowledge.
  • They have a quick and easy way of introducing themselves to more people.
  • They have more clarity and confidence in what they stand for and what they know.
  • They find selling easier and more fun.
  • They attract more of their ideal clients.
  • The discipline of writing teaches fabulous time management skills.
  • Stepping up and being prepared to be criticised develops resilience.
  • Focusing on their topic enhances their expertise and credibility.

Not to mention that really special moment when you hold your very own book in your hands for the first time. Imagine showing it to your best friend and the pride you feel inside when you realise that you've finally put down in writing your life lessons. Now people similar to you won’t have to suffer and can share in your knowledge.

And then there's that moment when you get your first piece of feedback or even an Amazon review. You discover that someone, who would never have met you, has transformed their life because you had the courage and the determination to put your wisdom and experience in writing. Those moments are priceless. You have a message and people are waiting to hear it -  we want to hear it!

When you reach more people, you can make a bigger difference.

Now this is not about writing any old book. We are keen that you are supported to the write ‘the book’ that will truly be ‘the hook’ for your business right now.

Having a book to your name will help you to get known in your industry, and when you write a great book, it will propel you into a different league than your competitors. Thus being automatically sought after for speaking gigs, commanding higher fees and getting great PR.

Is it time you got started?

If the time is right for you, then we would like to invite you to join us for the next Planning and Writing mini-retreat.

This is what you'll get from the 2 day event

  • 1.

You'll get clarity on where you're an expert, so that you write the right book for your business. We'll nail the thing that you want to get known for and get clear on exactly who your ideal reader is and the problem you're going to solve through your book. We'll help you to develop your ideas and content that will engage your ideal clients and get them wanting more.

  • 2.

I'll take you through my proven planning strategy, giving you the perfect structure for your book. This will ensure you avoid writer's block and leave with your personal blueprint to write your book easily and quickly.

  • 3.

We'll show you how to take people on a journey from your book into your community, so that your readers become your raving fans and prospects, and your book becomes the ultimate client attraction strategy.

  • 4.

You'll learn strategies to improve your focus and motivation, what to do if you get stuck and how to cope if you start to wobble about sharing your best stuff with your public. Ultimately this will build your momentum to get your book finished once you've left the weekend.

  • 5.

We'll also briefly look at how you can market your book from the day you start to write it, creating the perfect lead magnet that will help you to immediately build your community of people who can't wait to read your book. I'll share with you ways that you can effectively use your content now to raise your profile before you've even published it, and effective social media strategies to ensure that you have time to both write your book and increase your visibility without increasing your work.

Just think... How would it be if you had a published book that helps you to attract more clients, reach more people and make a bigger difference...

This is what some of our clients said about our Book Planning and Writing weekends

A great weekend!

I got everything I came for at the Book Planning and Writing weekend. It's been a really nice balance of content, learning how to do what we want to do with our books, and also an opportunity to share with each other and get different people's perspectives. Thank you!

I've got a plan!

It's been really enjoyable weekend. Writing is a solitary process and actually having feedback from other writers has been really helpful. I have confidence that what I'm doing is OK. It's been a good mix of getting stuff done and learning. Best of all I've got a plan, and now I know the way forward with my book.

I'm ready to get on with my book

It's been a really interesting weekend. It's hammered my head in a few different ways. At times I've felt frustrated, and at other times when I know that I can actually do this. It's been really nice to be in an environment where people have shared openly and there's no competition. We can all find our own way to do our thing.

The success has had a lot to do with how you've chosen to run the weekend with structure and the flexibility to go with the group. I've had a really good time and I'm ready to get on with my book.

I feel motivated and energised!

I feel really motivated and energised following the Planning and Writing weekend, and very much enjoyed getting some practical things done. Now I've got ideas down on paper and they're not just in my head. It's been great to share our ideas with each other and gain insights that we've not thought about before. Thank you Karen and Sheryl for this time.

Is it time for you to write a book?

To really benefit from this event, you'll already have an idea for a book, an established business and you'll love to write. If you are serious about writing your book this year, then don't miss out or wait for someone else to write the book that you'd love to pen. I'm sure I don't need to tell you that the longer you put it off, the less likely it is that it will actually happen.

If you know that it's time for you to step up in your business, and you know that the right book will build your confidence and demonstrate your credibility in the market place, then you need to join me. I know that if prospective clients are checking you out, how better way than to stand out by telling them that you're writing or you've written a book. And it makes sense to get your book right first time.

It will also help you to align everything you do in your business and your book will enable you to leverage this expertise. I know how much a well written book will help you to build your business, raise your credibility and increase your income.

Joining us for these 2 days is a great opportunity to get your momentum going. Actually when you start to write your book, you'll find that you become increasingly knowledgeable about your topic and that'll make you attractive to your clients. And at the event, I'll be sharing short-cuts and time saving strategies that I've learn on my journey.

We will be sharing the strategies that we teach my one-to-one clients to get started with your book and make a buzz about it from day one. Plus as well as benefiting from our knowledge, you'll get the chance to share your ideas with the people in the room, and the opportunity to develop your content further and connect with people who will champion you on the journey.

Sheryl and I look forward to seeing you there.

Best wishes

Karen gave me sharpness and focus I needed and can highly recommend it.

I’m now clearer on my message and my niche market, which has helped me to focus. It has been a very worthwhile kick up the bum! I could have spent the rest of my life writing this book if it wasn’t for Karen. She took away my excuses, and gave me reasons for doing it. It’s been great to have her contacts and knowing the steps that I needed to take.

It changes things when people know you’ve got a book and it adds power to your message, even though it’s not even out there yet. I’m eager to start my next book as I’ve learnt how to do it through this one.

I advise you to contact Karen as she will stop you from wasting your time and help you to do the best you can.
