Your 10k book challenge was the catalyst in terms of helping me to structure my book. I got my focus back, I got clarity and above all else I got my motivation back to complete what I started. With your help and support and the amazing people in the Facebook group, I went from a standing start to 60,000 words by the end of the challenge. It was the kick start I needed for my book.
Having interviewed around 20 people for my Portfolio Careers book and had dozens of pages of excellent and inspirational transcriptions, the enormity of working through these to create compelling content for readers became an obstacle I could not seem to overcome. Procrastination then held me back.
By signing up to your August book challenge, it gave me the focus, sense of purpose and motivation to make my breakthrough. The videos were excellent and many helped to refresh my memory on things I had done before for previous book that I overlooked, such as copying and pasting content from blogs, my audio book, interviews with with me etc. Also to find themes from the interview transcriptions and use the post-it note exercise to create some potential chapters. This was invaluable.
The Facebook group support and webinars have all been helpful and helped to build momentum and motivation to make my breakthrough. The result...by the end of the challenge I had written around 60k words and almost completed my initial draft! Thank you Karen for providing the framework to make this happen.

I’d had this book deep inside of me, gradually rising to the surface over time but kept it on hold, waiting for the right moment. Once I’d made the decision to write my book I was ‘hopeful’ about blanking out an entire day in my diary to get started. Then I saw the Make It Happen day.
